What is Hwb?
Hwb is an after-school drop-in for young people in secondary school!
What will Hwb be like?
Hwb is a friendly, welcoming, and safe space where you can relax after school. It’s a drop-in environment, so you can come whenever you like and leave whenever you like. There’s lots to do: play board games, football, pool, or table tennis, get creative with crafts, or just hang out with your friends. You can even enjoy some toast and a hot chocolate while you’re here. Hwb is all about having fun, chilling out, and spending time in a space where you feel at home.
Who can attend Hwb?
Anyone in secondary school! Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate requests for those in primary school to join in.
When and where is Hwb?
Hwb is launching 15 April, 2026!
Hwb is open on Wednesdays during term-time from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Capel Berea Newydd Bangor (St. Davids Drive, Penrhos Road, Bangor, Gwynedd, LL57 2AX). If coming from Ysgol Tryfan, this is about a 6-minute walk. For those coming from Ysgol Friars, it’s an 11-minute walk.
Do I need to register to attend?
Yes, a legal guardian must complete our registration form before attending Hwb. Click here to complete the form! Registration forms must be completed once each academic year and will only be held on file for the academic year in which they are completed. If you’d like us to remove your registration form and all of its personal data early, email us at hello@bangor.yfc.co.uk.
Is there a cost to attend?
Nope! Hwb is totally free.
Will there be food and drinks?
We’ll serve hot chocolate and toast. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate every dietary restriction. If you have any major allergies or dietary restrictions, you’ll be able to let us know in the registration form.
What if I don’t know anyone coming?
No worries, everyone starts out new at some point! Our team of volunteers is here to help you settle in, and it’s a great place to make new friends.
Can I bring a friend?
Definitely! Just make sure that their legal guardian has completed the registration form before they arrive.
How can I get involved or volunteer?
We’re always looking for folks who are willing to show up personally and predictably in the lives of young people! If you’d like to volunteer, follow the link here to register your interest.
Who runs Hwb?
Hwb is a collaborative project of Bangor Youth for Christ and Capel Berea Newydd Bangor.
